GRAMMAR: Want or Would Like

To express desire we normally use want.
I want a vanilla ice cream please.

We can also use would like (more polite).
He would like to speak to the manager.

Like and Prefer: We use these to express preference.
I like chocolate ice cream (informal). I prefer strawberry ice cream (formal).
